Double Page Spread Planning and Final Product

Below is a rough sketch which I drew to show the rough idea I had of my double page s[read and how it was going to be laid out.

Once I had decided on how it was going to look , I then needed to plan the content of the double page spread. 

In order to get a good article for my magazine I decided to make drafts and get friends and family to read them as this would give me some feedback. Then after that I typed the article up on word and word processed it to ensure all words were spelt correctly and that all grammar was correct so the article would read as professional as possible .

This was the final draft I created .

Kerr Nominated For Awards!

Alex Kerr, an 18 year old acoustic artist from Newcastle, has been nominated for best acoustic artist at the NME awards. This has shocked fans and critics, because he is such a new comer to the industry. However, this has not stopped Alex’s commitment and ambition to make it in music.  Alex first started playing music at a local club at the age of 10, he was then asked to join a band called The Jovos this band consisted of 2 guitarists and Alex as lead vocalist. The band played across the north east , at pubs and clubs and venues such as the Head of Steam in Durham and The Live Lounge, Alex enjoyed his time with the band but always wanted to sing solo with his own style of music to his name. However, the band gave him the chance to continue his passion for music and make his confidence grown little by little but when Alex was 14 the band split. This turned him to start singing covers of songs on his YouTube channel, this was just a hobby and he didn’t really take it seriously. It wasn’t until his musical talents were highlighted in school, his confidence began to grow.

From then Alex began singing more and more songs on YouTube, and writing his own songs as well. He was then noticed by the record label Fro Tunes where he was offered a contract to become a professional singer and follow his passion for music, however Alex declined this offer as he thought he could do better. Then continued singing via YouTube and supporting artists such as Olly Murs and The View at local venues. This continued till the age of 17 when he was asked to play at the Evolution festival and in the NME tent at Leeds festival. Here more and more people followed his style of music and bought his songs on ITunes.  This lead to his nomination for the NME award for best acoustic artist , the reason for nomination by NME was“ Great , New, Fresh artist who has created some great songs this year”

This is my final version of my double page spread which I have produced. I have took into account all of my research which I have carried out and thought about the target auidence who I wished to aim my product at.
