What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
I have carried out some extensive research into a variety of different media distribution companies, and I feel that IPC Media will be the best company to distribute my media product, this is because it is the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publisher therefore it will be a large company who will be able to distribute my product to the mass market . The will be able to do this because they have 25million global users every month , therefore they seem a perfect company for my product to be distributed by.
However, my product is able to do this because I have created a product which is suitable for a mass market rather than a niche market , because I felt this was more of a selling point for the magazine, as it would therefore have a better chance of appealing to more people. However, because I have chosen to do this it will mean I need to have a strong branding of my product and I need to ensure my magazine will stand out from my competitors such as Q , NME and Kerrang.
In addition to distribution my magazine physically I believe I can use the increase in social networking to my advantage, with sites such as Facebook and Twitter on the rise , I believe since I am targeting my magazine at people aged 16-28 that my product should also be promoted virtually on social networking sites so my target audience will come into contact with it and then my brand will become more well known.
